Summer Fun in Concord
Continuing the tradition of Market Days 52 years later... The Concord Market Days Festival began in 1974 as Old Fashioned Bargain Days by a group of downtown merchants in Concord, mainly to clear out aging inventory. The sidewalk sale offered great deals, and attracted visitors to the downtown area. As the years went by, the event expanded and changed. In 1980, Main Street was closed to vehicles for the entire three days of the festival, and marked a shift from just a shoppi

The Woman Behind the Lens
Celebrating KMooso Photography If you have been with us here awhile, you may have noticed our photography is just more eye-catching than ever. There is one very good reason for this, and that is the magnificent Kristine of KMooso Photography behind the lens! As a retired air traffic controller, Kristine's ability to see the world from a unique perspective brings a fresh take to any subject she approaches, and the candle photo shoots have never been so adventurous or so much f

Lilacs In Bloom
Celebrating the state flower of New Hampshire The purple lilac was adopted as the state flower of New Hampshire in 1919. That year, many bills and amendments were introduced promoting the apple blossom, purple aster, wood lily, and even the buttercup as the state flower. Long and lively debates followed regarding the relative merits of each flower, but the purple lilac was ultimately chosen to symbolize the "hardy character of the men and women of the Granite State." New Hamp

Four Years of Shining Bright
The story of the Granite Firefly Candle Company Four years ago today, I formed the LLC for the Granite Firefly Candle Company. With so many new faces here, I thought I would take this opportunity to reintroduce ourselves and share our story. The Granite Firefly Candle Company was born from tragedy and necessity. Our lives were suddenly altered in 2021, when Donnie sustained a traumatic head injury. The ensuing months required extensive rest, rehabilitation and an extremely

Maple Madness
Celebrating the rich traditions of Maple Week in New Hampshire! The temperatures are finally starting to warm up a bit, and that means our local maple trees are starting to produce sap. Sugar houses around New England are stoking up their woodstoves and soon the air will be filled with smells of sweet maple and burning embers. Sugar Maple by Granite Firefly genuinely captures the sugar house experience, with sweet maple blended with balsam fir and a touch of woodsmoke. Maple

Miracles, Big & Small
The winter Olympics have once again been filled with intrigue and excitement, accomplishment, glory and inspiration, and we applaud each individual competing this year! Watching the gold medal hockey game this morning in real time was quite possibly the highlight of Donnie's winter so far, not even to mention the big wins!! The story of the men's 1980 Olympic team has always been a source of inspiration to us, and though thoroughly documented, we neve tire of the story of the

The Bluebird Skies of Winter
If you have ever wondered why the winter sky looks so blue, it turns out there's a good reason. The cold, dry air combined with the lower angle of the sun in the sky changes the distribution of light, and results in a more vibrant blue appearance. Add a bit of fresh, white snow and those winter blues really stand out. We created Bluebird Skies with this in mind, blending bright juniper with zesty grapefruit for a fragrance that truly embodies these late winter days while brin

An Ode to Sweet Ivy
We started off the new year in a most heartbreaking way, as we said goodbye to our sweet pup, Ivy in the early hours of January 4. After being diagnosed with a genetic liver condition in April, Ivy became very ill, and her prognosis was very poor. It was estimated she had but weeks to live. We sought a second opinion, and Ivy was prescribed some medications and a change to her diet. Candle production ceased, and all of our energy went to Ivy's well being. Miraculously, s
