Granite Firefly Burning Tips
Place the candle on a small plate, or a candle coaster to avoid any wax residue on furniture. A quality hurricane vase can also be used.
The wick will be the proper length for the initial burn. Subsequently, keep the wick trimmed to approximately ¼ inch. The wick used is hot and powerful, essential to manage our distinctive, dense wax. The wick will require trimming & straightening to promote an even burn.
When lighting the candle initially, allow it to burn until the wax pool reaches the perimeter. This may take between 3-6 hours, and is dependent upon ambient room temperature. The candle will burn more quickly in a warm room vs a cooler one.
Always burn within sight. They do prefer to be admired as they burn!
Reach out with any questions of concerns. This unique wax is a bit different to manage, so please let us know if you have questions, or if your candle isn't burning the way you hoped.
Granite Firefly candles are crafted from 100% palm wax. This plant based wax is clean burning, sustainably sourced and always RSPO certified. The wick is natural, untreated cotton. All fragrance oils used to blend our signature scents are formulated without phalates, and are free of known carcinogens, mutagens, reproductive toxins, organ toxins and acute toxins. In other words, safe for you, your family, and your pets!
Granite Firefly candles are slow burning and long lasting, burning between 65-100 hours, depending on the size and your burning techniques. A good long burn the first time you light your candle will extend the candles life by creating a larger wax pool, or footprint, for your candle.
We recommend burning the candle between 4-6 hours the first time you light it. The temperature of your space will affect how quickly the candle burns, so please burn within sight. A candle that begins to appear dark and soft around the top should be extinguished.
Because the wax is so dense and slow to burn, we generally recommend burning your candle for at least 1-2 hours each time you light it. Keep the wick trimmed to about a quarter inch. If the wick begins to curl, flicker excessively or smoke, simply extinguish the candle, gently trim the wick, and relight it as you see fit.
Never pick up or move a burning candle. Always use caution around people and pets. Never burn the candle unattended. Always be aware of the candles surroundings.
Be aware of breezy or drafty areas to allow for an even burn. A persistent draft can cause the candle to burn unevenly and even cause a thin spot or a hole to form. Please burn your Granite Firefly candle within sight.
As the flame descends, the walls of the candle become thinner which allows for a beautiful glow. However, the sides may become fragile. Please do not pick up a burning candle or
attempt to move the candle before it has sufficiently cooled.
When the base becomes approximately one inch thin, it's a good time to stop burning your candle. However, the base is pure wax and can be carefully cut up and used in your wax warmer. Just be sure to remove the warning label on the bottom first!
We recommend burning your candle on a safe, non-flammable coaster or small plate to avoid potential wax residue on surfaces. Check out our signature granite candle coasters coasters here!
Always burn your candle on a level surface, and keep the wick trimmed to about a quarter of an inch.
Be aware of breezy or drafty areas. An unexpected draft can cause an uneven burn. If this is a concern, a high quality hurricane vase can be used. When using a hurricane vase for the first time, observe your candle closely and ensure it is an agreeable situation.
Never burn a candle unattended. Use caution around children and pets.

The Granite Firefly Candle Company creates slow burning pillar candles, tea lights and wax melts. All products are crafted with the same care and the same clean burning ingredients.
Our pillar candles are stunning, fragrant, and slow burning, but they do require a bit of commitment. The first time the candle is lit, it should burn for 4-6 hours, depending upon your ambient room temperature. We recommend burning your candle for no less than 1-2 hours each time you light it, as longer burns will promote the longevity and efficiency of your candle. Check out our pillar candles here.
Tea lights are an excellent solution for shorter, more flexible burns. Each tea light will burn for 4-5 hours and can be lit and extinguished as you like. Tea lights are available in sample collections or single scent six packs here.
Wax melts provide fragrance without the flame. A great alternative to the open flame of a candle, while providing an excellent fragrance experience. Learn more about wax melts, or shop our selection here.
